Why us

Why Choose Us for Wrought Iron Fences in Norman, OK

An iron fence should look as crisp in twenty years as on the day it goes in. That comes down to the finish, the posts and the gates.

  • Straight Talk on Steel vs. Aluminum

We tell you exactly what you’re buying. Steel where you need strength, aluminum where water and rust are the risk, and we never sell welded steel as true wrought iron.

  • Finishes Built to Resist Rust

Our steel is galvanized under the powder coat, and every cut or drilled spot is sealed and touched up on site, so rust doesn’t start where we worked.

  • Clean Lines on Uneven Ground

Rackable panels follow Norman’s gentle slopes with the pickets still plumb, and we step panels where the grade is steeper, so the top line looks deliberate.

  • Gates That Keep Closing Square

Iron gates are heavy. We set gate posts deeper and a size up, use heavy-duty hinges and latches, and hang wide gates only after the concrete has cured.

Services

Wrought Iron Fence Services in Norman, OK

Iron fencing does more than look good out front. Here’s what we build with ornamental steel and aluminum around Norman.

  • Front Yard Iron Fences

3- to 4-foot spear, flat or finial-top fences that frame the house without hiding it, built to Norman’s under-4-foot front-yard limit.

  • Pool Fences

Aluminum pool fences at least 4 feet tall, with pickets close enough that a 4-inch sphere can’t pass and self-closing, self-latching gates, to meet City of Norman rules. More on pool fences.

  • Estate & Entrance Fencing

Taller ornamental steel along frontage and entrances, with decorative finials, scrolls and posts that pair with brick or stone columns.

  • Security Fencing

Heavier steel pickets and rails with flat or spear tops that are hard to climb, for homes, storefronts and commercial properties. More on security fencing.

  • Puppy Pickets & Pet-Safe Styles

Extra short pickets along the bottom or narrower spacing, so small dogs can’t slip through an otherwise open fence.

  • Iron Walk & Drive Gates

Arched and flat-top walk gates and swing or sliding drive gates in matching steel, ready for an automatic opener. More on driveway gates.

  • Column & Wall Mounting

Panels mounted between brick or stone columns, or core-drilled into a concrete wall or curb, for a clean, built-in look.

  • Iron Fence Repair

Bent pickets, loose sections, leaning posts and rust. See our fence repair page; we clean rust to bare metal, prime and repaint so it stops spreading.

Materials

Steel, Aluminum or True Wrought Iron?

They all look like “wrought iron” from the street. Here’s how they differ in strength, upkeep and how long they last in Oklahoma.

Ornamental Steel

Typical life: 20–30+ years

Welded steel pickets and rails, galvanized and powder-coated. The strongest and heaviest choice, for security, gates and high-traffic spots. Touch up chips to keep rust out. More on ornamental steel fences.

Ornamental Aluminum

Typical life: 30+ years

Looks the same from the street, weighs much less and can’t rust. The right choice near pools, sprinklers and anywhere it stays damp. Not as strong as steel against hard impacts. More on aluminum fences.

True Wrought Iron

Today: restoration and matching

Hand-forged iron found on historic homes. Rarely built new because of the cost and weight. We can match its look in steel or repair and refinish what you have.

Style Options

Tops
Spear (pressed or cast points), flat top with the rail over the pickets, or finials and decorative caps on the posts.
Rails
Two rails for a clean, simple look; three rails for taller fences and extra strength.
Heights
3–4 feet for front yards, 4–5 feet for pools, and 5–6 feet or more for security and estates.
Color
Black is standard; bronze, white and other powder-coat colors are available on many styles.

Questions

Wrought Iron Fence FAQ — Norman, OK

Is it real wrought iron?

Almost no one builds fences from true wrought iron anymore. It's hand-forged, very heavy and expensive, and today it's mostly found on historic homes. What's sold as a wrought iron fence is welded ornamental steel or aluminum made to look the same, with a powder-coat finish that protects it far better than old paint did. We install both and will tell you which one you're getting.

Should I choose ornamental steel or aluminum?

Choose steel where strength matters most: security fences, driveway gates and places where cars, livestock or big dogs could hit it. Choose aluminum near pools, sprinklers and anywhere it stays wet, because aluminum can't rust and weighs much less. In a typical front yard both look the same from the street.

Will an ornamental steel fence rust in Oklahoma?

Good ornamental steel is galvanized and then powder-coated, which keeps rust away for many years. Rust usually starts where the coating gets chipped, by a mower, trimmer or a gate swinging into something. Touching up chips with matching paint once a year stops it from spreading. Aluminum won't rust at all.

Is an iron fence good for keeping dogs in?

It can be. Standard picket spacing keeps most medium and large dogs in. For small dogs and puppies, we add puppy pickets, extra short pickets between the regular ones along the bottom, or choose a style with narrower spacing. Keep the bottom rail close to the ground so dogs can't squeeze under.

Can an iron fence be installed on a sloped yard?

Yes. Rackable panels shift their pickets so the panel follows the slope with the pickets still standing straight up. On steeper ground the panels are stepped down from post to post instead. We'll show you which method suits your yard at the estimate.

Can you add a gate or match my existing iron fence?

Usually, yes. We match picket style, top, rail spacing, height and color as closely as we can, and we can add walk or drive gates to an existing fence. Older custom fences may not have an exact off-the-shelf match, so we'll show you the closest option or have matching pieces fabricated.

How tall can an iron fence be in my front yard in Norman?

Under Norman's zoning code, a fence forward of the front setback line must be less than 4 feet tall, which is why most front-yard iron fences are 3 to 4 feet. Side and rear fences can typically go up to 8 feet. We check your lot's setback and any HOA rules before we build.
